Bush block bliss

BJ and Marty are newcomers to northern Tasmania and were keen to get a vegetable garden started. However, their bush block is dominated by heavy clay soils and does not drain well. To overcome this challenge, we designed and built a series of raised garden beds. The elevated nature of these beds will enable this couple to continue gardening for many years to come. To prevent local wildlife from eating the crops, we enclosed the garden beds in a pest-proof structure, designed to keep the wallabies, pademelons and possums out, but to allow pollinators in. The enclosed garden beds are the first in a series of stages that we have proposed to BJ and Marty.
